Freemo Group in the Front Range, Colorado

Freemo Collective in Central Front Range Colorado

Welcome! We are a group of committed modelers with varying skill levels adhering to the FREEMO standard.

What is Freemo?

Freemo is a modular standard that encourages prototypical styled modules on a free flowing design format, hence "Freemo". Our modules can be built to any length, angle, and track configuration. The only requirements being the module endplates and electrical connections conform to the standard of freemo. Our members each build modules that are strung together at train shows and other venues to create a large layout that is capable of operating trains in prototypical fashion. Unlike other module standards, freemo standards specify broad curves (42" minimum mainline radius") and large switches to allow large equipment to operate on the layout. The freemo standard also allows us to be very flexible in our setups, as we do not need to form a complete "loop", we can create a long linear layout, or fill the shape of a box, hexagon, or any other space available to us. We are also able to easily adjust layout plans for last minute cancellations and problems.

Freemo modules also require less of a commitment than standard modules to the membership. On a modular standard that must form a complete loop, every member needs to plan on attending all the shows or the layout plan must be tailored to account for their absence. Freemo requires no such commitment, building a module just adds another building block to the pikemasters quiver of available modules and does not require the module to be at shows.

  • Group synergy for show attendance. While there is no pressure to atend events. We actively look for opportunities to showcase and use our layout.
  • Club owned loops for common layout needs.
  • Great group of individual with an outstanding bredth of knowledge to mentor and guide module creation.
  • Minimal financial commitment to participate with the group.
